Upgrading Firmware

From time to time, Trend Micro releases a patch for a reported known issue or an upgrade that applies to the product. Find available patches at http://downloadcenter.trendmicro.com.

Updating the firmware ensures that TippingPoint Advanced Threat Protection for Email has access to new and improved security features when they become available.

Note

Ensure that you have finished all management console tasks before proceeding. The upgrade process may take some time to complete, and upgrading from TippingPoint Advanced Threat Protection for Email 2.5 or 2.5 SP1 to TippingPoint Advanced Threat Protection for Email 2.6 may take an hour or more. Trend Micro recommends starting the upgrade during off-peak office hours. Installing the update restarts TippingPoint Advanced Threat Protection for Email.

Procedure

Back up configuration settings.
Obtain the firmware image.
- Download the TippingPoint Advanced Threat Protection for Email firmware image from the Trend Micro Download Center at:
  
  http://downloadcenter.trendmicro.com
- Obtain the firmware package from your Trend Micro reseller or support provider.
Save the image to any folder on a computer.
Go to Administration → Product Updates → Firmware.
Next to Software version, verify your firmware version.
Browse for the firmware update package.

Click Install.

Tip

You can access the command line interface to view the installation process.

After the installation is complete, TippingPoint Advanced Threat Protection for Email automatically restarts and the command line interface appears.

Perform the following post-installation steps:
- Clear the browser cache.
- Manually log onto the web console.
