Define your organization's criteria for sensitive data by creating rules based on your organization's regions, data types, and compliance requirements.
Establishing how your organization classifies sensitive data is a foundational step
in implementing effective Data Security. The Sensitive Data Classification app streamlines
this process by guiding you through an initial setup using a Rule Selection Wizard.
This wizard helps you define:
-
The regions where your organization operates
-
The compliance standards your organization follows
-
The types of data your organization handles:
-
Financial
-
Personal
-
Credentials
-
Other
-
TipIf needed, you can create additional data categories using the Tag Management app.

The setup process consists of two main steps:
-
Initial rule configuration: Use the Rule Selection Wizard to generate a baseline set of rules based on Data Loss Prevention (DLP) templates. This wizard is only available during the initial setup. For more information, see Set up sensitive data classification.
-
Rule management and customization: Customize sensitive data classification even further by doing any of the following:
-
Edit existing rules by adjusting the sensitivity levels (high, medium, low).
-
Add data tags to rules. You can create data tags in Tag Management.
-
Deactivate rules that you do not need. For more information, see Deactivate sensitive data classification rules.
-
Create custom rules to supplement the initial rule set. For more information, see Create a custom rule to define a network location with sensitive data.
