By default, the Sync Agent automatically activates any Scanning Tool inserted into the Sync Agent endpoint. The Sync Agent also automatically applies any policy that targets the Scanning Tool. However, if no Sync Agent endpoint is immediately available or you encounter issues activating the Scanning Tool using the Sync Agent, manually activate the Scanning Tool by performing the following steps.

  1. Plug-in the Scanning Tool that has not yet been activated on an endpoint that does not have the Sync Agent installed.

The Scanning Tool Mode screen opens.

    Note:

If the window does not open, your security software may have blocked the autorun process. Open Windows Explorer and double-click Launcher.exe from the TMPS3_SYS partition to start the program.

  2. Select Synchronization Mode, and click Next.
    Note:

Ensure you select the correct mode (either Standalone Scanning Tool or Synchronization Mode) before activating the device. You can only change the mode after activation if you reset the device.

For details, see Resetting the Device.

  3. On the next screen, specify the following:
    • Scanning Tool name

    • Sync Agent address, port, and password

    • (Optional) Proxy settings

  4. Click Activate.
  5. (Optional) Go to the Status & Update tab and click Update Now to get the latest components.
