The upgrade process applies to both IMSVA 9.0 Patch 1 and Patch 2.
The following sections take IMSVA 9.0 Patch 1 as an example to describe how to upgrade IMSVA to 9.1. If you want to upgrade from IMSVA 9.0 Patch 2 to 9.1, refer to the following sections because the way to upgrade 9.0 Patch 2 is similar to that of 9.0 Patch 1.
Upgrade IMSVA 9.0 Patch 1 or Patch 2 as a single device, or upgrade an entire distributed environment.

Do not restart IMSVA until you have completed the upgrade process.
During the upgrade, no customized operating system settings migrate, except the host, network, and gateway settings. To retain the original settings, do the following:
  1. Mount the original root partition to a path on the upgraded server, for example, /root/original_root:
    mount /dev/mapper/IMSVA-Root1 /root/original_root
  2. Find the original settings in the mounted path.
  3. Add the original settings to the upgrade server.
