If you encounter issues updating the Scanning Tool using the Sync Agent, update the Scanning Tool manually using the Trend Micro Portable Security 3 Diagnostic Toolkit.

  1. Close the Scanning Tool console if it is open.
  2. Log on to the endpoint using an account with administrator privileges and connect the Scanning Tool.
  3. Download the Trend Micro Portable Security 3 service pack.
    Note:

    Contact Trend Micro support to obtain the latest service pack.

  4. Extract the contents of the service pack to a local folder on the endpoint where you have connected the Scanning Tool.
  5. Open the Trend Micro Portable Security 3 Diagnostic Toolkit.

    The following options are available

    • From the Windows Start Menu, locate the Trend Micro Portable Security 3 folder, and click Trend Micro Portable Security 3 Diagnostic Toolkit.

    • From the Scanning Tool:

      • Copy the SupportTool folder from the USB device into your local drive.

      • Double-click the TMPSSuprt.exe file ().

    The Trend Micro Portable Security 3 Diagnostic Toolkit console opens.

  6. Go to the More Tools tab.
  7. Click Use for Updates.
  8. Select Apply Hotfix, and click Next.

    The Apply New Components window opens.

  9. Click Browse and select the .bin file from the service pack provided by Trend Micro.
  10. Click Apply, and confirm the action.
  11. To update another Scanning Tool, click Yes, and browse for the hotfix file in the Apply New Component window.

    Otherwise, click No to finish the update.
