To increase the performance of scanning and to skip files that are causing false alarms, you can exclude certain items from scanning. Real-Time Scan, Scheduled Scan, and Manual Scan skip scanning the files, folders, and file extensions you add to the exclusion lists.

The scans may detect several commonly used applications, such as Hotbar, and interpret them as threats. To prevent the Security Agent from detecting commonly used applications, add the application files to the exception list.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Configure Policy screen by performing one of the following:
    • Classic Mode: Go to SECURITY AGENTS and select a group. Click more-horiz.jpgConfigure Policy.
    • Advanced Mode: Go to POLICIESPolicy Management. Click Add or click an existing policy.
  2. Click window8.jpg Windows.
  3. Go to Scan Exclusions.
  4. In the Real-Time Scan / Scheduled Scan / Manual Scan section, click a tab and configure the required exceptions.
  5. To add an exception:
    1. Click Add.
    2. Specify the folder path, file name, file path, or file extension to exclude from the scans.

    3. Select the scan types to apply the exceptions.
    4. Click Add.
  6. To edit an exception:
    1. Click the exception in the first column of the list.
    2. Update the exception.
    3. Press the ENTER key to save the changes.
    4. Select or clear the check boxes in the scan type columns.
  7. To delete an exception, point to the exception and click delete.jpg in the last column of the list.
  8. Under Exclude directories where Trend Micro products are installed from the following:, select the scan types to apply this setting.
  9. Click Save.
