To add a MIP account to grant Cloud Email and Collaboration Protection access to Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) on the Cloud Email and Collaboration Protection management console, you need to have one of the following licenses which include a MIP service plan:
  • Microsoft 365 E5/A5/G5/E3/A3/G3
  • Office 365 E5/A5/E3/A3
  • Information Protection for Office 365 - Standard
  • Information Protection for Office 365 - Premium
The steps outlined below detail how to grant access to Microsoft Information Protection.

Procedure

  1. In Cloud Email and Collaboration Protection, go to AdministrationService Account.
  2. Click Add, hover over an organization, and select Microsoft Information Protection from the list that appears on the right side.

    Microsoft Information Protection appears in the list only if you have granted Cloud Email and Collaboration Protection access to at least one of the SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams (Teams), Microsoft Teams (Chat), and Exchange Online services.
    The Grant Access to Microsoft Information Protection screen appears.
  3. Add an account for accessing Microsoft Information Protection.
    1. Click Click here at the end of Step 1.
    2. On the Microsoft logon screen that appears, specify your Office 365 Global Administrator credentials to sign in.
    3. On the authorization screen that appears, click Accept to grant Cloud Email and Collaboration Protection the permission.
  4. Wait until the process is completed.
    If the message "Successfully created a service account and synced data." appears on the screen, the access grant is successful.
