Both a Containerized Scanner (FSCS) on Kubernetes and a Virtual Appliance (FSVA) via Service Gateway can serve as theTrendAI Vision One scanner for ONTAP integration. Once deployed, you manage the ONTAP agents from the Inventory page of the Vision One console:
  • Under Containerized Scanner → NetApp ONTAP Vscan, each deployed cluster is listed by its cluster ID
  • Under Virtual Appliance → NetApp ONTAP Vscan , each ONTAP-enabled appliance is listed by name
  • Clicking the NetApp ONTAP Vscan category node shows the deployment guide
  • Clicking a cluster opens the ONTAP agent list, where you can add, onboard, re-onboard, configure credentials, edit settings, and delete agents
The agent lifecycle tracked by the console is init → onboarding → credential-required → running. The console continuously polls and reflects agent connection and health status. You can also manage agents without the console using the Management Service CLI (clish agent) — see Add, onboard and configure an ONTAP Agent for the console walkthrough, and the Management Service CLI command reference for all CLI commands.
File Security can be used in conjunction with NetApp ONTAP to scan files accessed over SMB/CIFS shares, using either the File Security Containerized Scanner (FSCS) or the File Security Virtual Appliance (FSVA).

Procedure

  1. Enable Vscan on the ONTAP Management console:
    1. Create the scanner pool:
      vserver vscan scanner-pool create -vserver <svm_name> -scanner-pool <pool_name> -hostnames <vscan_server_hostname> -privileged-users <domain\user>
For more information, see vserver vscan scanner-pool create.
    2. Apply a policy to the scanner pool:
      vserver vscan scanner-pool apply-policy -vserver <svm_name> -scanner-pool <pool_name> -scanner-policy primary
For more information, see vserver vscan scanner-pool apply-policy.
    3. Enable Vscan on the SVM:
      vserver vscan enable -vserver <svm_name>
  2. Install the NetApp ONTAP AV-Connector:
    1. Download the NetApp ONTAP AV-Connector from NetApp's website.
    2. Install the connector on your Windows Vscan server.
    3. Configure the connector with:
      • ONTAP Management LIF or Data LIF (SVMs) IP address
      • Appropriate credentials for ONTAP access
