Configure external network traffic with a PCI passthrough using SPAN or RSPAN to allow Virtual Network Sensor to monitor data.

Procedure

  1. Turn off your Virtual Network Sensor.
  2. On the vCenter console, configure the SPAN or RSPAN protocol for the network traffic you want to monitor.
  3. Click the VMware_vCenter_server_icon=GUID-20230329175050.png tab, and then click Configure.

  4. Go to HardwarePCI Devices and click ALL PCI DEVICES.
  5. Select your port from the list and click TOGGLE PASSTHROUGH.

  6. Click the VMware_vCenter_server_icon=GUID-20230329175050.png tab and then click the name of your virtual appliance.

  7. Click edit_settings_icon=GUID-20230729150707.png.
  8. On the Edit Settings screen, click ADD NEW DEVICE and select PCI Device.

  9. Select DirecPath IO and the port you chose before.

  10. Click OK.
  11. Turn on your Virtual Network Sensor.
