Add and manage hosted user accounts to allow them to forward web traffic through TMWS. Assign the Administrator or Operator role for role-based management console access control. Optionally organize hosted users into groups to deploy policies that affect all hosted users assigned to the hosted group.
TMWS synchronizes hosted users to all Internet gateways in the same organization. Optionally set policies and perform reports on this synchronized information.
Note
Note
When the authentication method is set to Okta, Azure AD, or Google on the Directory Services page, hosted users are not able to access websites through TMWS. If you need to manage hosted user accounts, add them in your Okta organization or Azure AD first.

Procedure

  1. Go to AdministrationUSERS & AUTHENTICATIONHosted Users.
  2. Manage hosted user accounts.
    Task
    Details
    Configure the guest user account
    Customize a welcome email message
TMWS sends new account owners a welcome email message, asking them to initialize their accounts with a new password.
To customize the welcome email message, click Configure an email message sent to new users on top of the screen, type the message (in plain text format) on the screen that appears, and then click Save.
    Add/Edit a user account
Click Add or select an existing account name under Full Name, and then specify the settings on the screen that appears.
After adding a user account, TMWS sends the account owner a welcome email message, containing a link to a password setup web page. After the account owner specifies a password:
    • If the role is set to User, the user account creation process is complete.
    • If the role is set to Administrator or Operator, the account owner is redirected to the management console.
    Delete a user account
Select one or several user accounts and then click Delete.
Account owners will stop forwarding web traffic to TMWS, and those with the Administrator or Operator role will no longer have access to the management console.
    Important
    Important
After deleting a hosted user account, please allow up to 4 hours for the deletion to fully propagate through the system. During this period:
    • The user's existing sessions will remain active
    • Once the deletion takes effect, the user will be prompted to authenticate when attempting to access the internet
    • Any existing login state in the Enforcement Agent will be automatically cleared
    Export user accounts
You can back up existing user accounts by exporting them to a CSV file. Only accounts with the User role can be exported.
Click Import/Export User Accounts. In the window that appears, select Export and then click Export.
    Import user accounts
You can simplify user account creation by importing a CSV file containing a list of user accounts.
    View data in table columns
The table columns show the same data that you configured when you added or edited a user account.
Data under Email Address is appended with Logon pending if the account owner has not clicked the link in the welcome email message to set a logon password. The status changes to Logon deadline expired if the account owner does not do so within the specified time period (three days). Administrators can click Resend to send the welcome email message again to the account owner.
    Sort the user account information
Sort the information in ascending or descending order in either of the following ways:
    • Click the title area of a column.
    • Click the up or down arrow at the right of the title area of a column.
    Search for a user account
Type a keyword or part of the keyword related to either column in the table in the Search text box.
    Note
    Note
If there are many entries in the table, type some characters in the Search text box to narrow down the entries. As you type, the entries that match the characters you typed are displayed immediately. TMWS searches all cells in the table for matches.
