To configure how the endpoint responds when the Scanning Tool is plugged in, launch the Scanning Tool Agent by clicking Start > All Programs > Trend Micro Portable Security 3 Scanning Tool Agent.

Click the Settings tab to access the following functions.

  • Update security patterns and components: Select to automatically update the Scanning Tool for the latest security patterns and components.

  • Start scanning the computer: Select to automatically start scanning. To view the result of this scan immediately after it is complete, select Always keep the scanning program open after scanning.

    Note:

    Enabling the Always keep the scanning program open after scanning option interrupts the automatic execution of tasks of the Scanning Tool Agent. Any tasks configured to start after scanning (synchronization or scheduled update) are cancelled.

  • Sync logs and settings with the Management Program: Select this option to synchronize logs and settings of the Scanning Tool with those on the Sync Agent.

    Note:

    Ensure that there is a working network connection between the Scanning Tool Agent and the Sync Agent.

  • Enable scheduled updates: Select to have the Scanning Tool updated at the defined frequency and start time.

  • Enable scheduled scans: Select to have the Scanning Tool scan the endpoint at the specified frequency and start time.

Note:
  • If both scheduled updates and scheduled scans are enabled, the Scanning Tool performs the update first. The Scanning Tool console automatically closes when both tasks are complete.

  • The Scanning Tool stops the execution of all automatic tasks if any of the following occurs:

    • There is a failure to carry out any of the tasks. This can include manual cancellation or network connection failure

    • Threats were found while scanning
