  1. On the Apex One server computer, browse to <Server installation folder>\PCCSRV\Admin\Utility\TCacheGen.
  2. Choose a version of the VDI Pre-Scan Template Generation Tool. The following versions are available:
Table 1. VDI Pre-Scan Template Generation Tool Versions

    File Name

    Instruction

    TCacheGen.exe

    TCacheGenCli.exe

Choose both TCacheGenCli.exe file and TCacheGen.exe if you want to run the tool from the command line interface of a 32-bit platform.

    TCacheGen_x64.exe

    TCacheGenCli_x64.exe

Choose both TCacheGenCli_x64.exe and TCacheGen_x64.exe if you want to run the tool from the command line interface of a 64-bit platform.

  3. Unload the Security Agent on the target VM template.
  4. Copy the version of the tool that you chose in the previous step to the <Agent installation folder> in the target VM template.
    Important:

TCacheGen.exe cannot run through a network share and must be copied locally on the VM template. Make sure to copy the appropriate tool, depending on the VM template architecture (64-bit or 32-bit).

  5. Restart the Security Agent program to ensure that the pre-scan can execute.
  6. Open a command prompt and change the directory to <Agent installation folder>.
  7. Execute the tool using one of the following commands:
    • For 32-bit systems: TCacheGenCli Generate_Template

    • For 64-bit systems: TcacheGenCli_x64 Generate_Template

    Note:

The tool scans the image for security threats before generating the pre-scan template and removing the GUID.

After generating the pre-scan template, the tool automatically unloads the Security Agent and deletes the TCacheGen.exe or TCacheGen_x64.exe program. You must manually delete the associated TCacheGenCli.exe or TCacheGenCli_x64.exe if desired.

Do not reload the Security Agent. If the Security Agent reloads, you will need to create the pre-scan template again.
