The TippingPoint Reputation Database is a collection of IP addresses within a geographic region or country, domain names, URLs, and file hashes on an SMS that represent potential risks to network security. Entries can be user-provided, provided from the ThreatDV Feed, or both. There is no limit to the number of entries a user can provide. Entries in the Reputation Database can be tagged or untagged. A tagged entry consists of an IP address, a domain name, URL, or a file hash, plus a reputation tag category and associated values. A tag category can be created manually or by ThreatDV. Tag categories created by the reputation service are read-only and may not be modified.
Entries can also be imported from a CSV file and must follow specific import Reputation rules. Untagged entries contain only an IP address, a domain name, a URL, or a file hash, and function as a user-defined list of Reputation criteria to block.
You can create an exception to prevent internal IP address from being used in a Reputation filter.
Note
Note
The SMS ignores any invalid entries imported from a CSV file. All IP-, domain-, URL-, and file-hash-tagged entries must be valid and correctly formatted before the SMS can apply the tag category values.
Reputation entries in the Reputation Database are used to create Reputation filters that target specific security needs of your network. See Reputation filters.
