The SMS can automatically discover network devices for use by IP/MAC Correlation
and Responder. This feature discovers the network devices on your network and allows
you to choose the devices you want to add. You can add a single device or multiple
devices.
Because the discovery process uses SNMP to discover the devices, you must enable
SNMP and use a common authorization method on the devices to be discovered. IP/MAC
Correlation uses Layer 3 devices (routers) that support RFC 1213. Switch actions use
Layer 2 devices (access switches) to disconnect access ports or change their VLAN.

NoteIn order to initiate a switch level response, the SMS must know the MAC address of
the target device and then match that to an IP address targeted for the Response action.
