- You must use a laptop or desktop computer to install the SMS client.
- All platform installers (Windows, Linux, Mac) must run on CPUs that have 64-bit architectures; 32-bit architectures are not supported. Windows and Linux installers must use Intel (x86) architectures. Mac installers can use an installer for either Intel (x86) or ARM silicon-based 64-bit architectures.
- To communicate with the SMS server, the SMS client must use TCP port 443.
- Make sure your system meets TMC port requirements. Learn more: Ports.
Procedure
- From the navigation panel of the SMS web management console Dashboard, select the Help icon.
- Click Client Installation.
- Download the installer appropriate for your system.
- Complete the installation:
- For Windows workstations: In the Download Complete dialog, click the Open button to start the SMS client installer.
- For Linux workstations:
- Ensure that the user installing the SMS client is also the user that will be running the client.
- From the directory containing the installer, run
chmod 755 SMSInstall64.sh;./SMSInstall64.sh
- For Mac workstations:Separate SMS client installers are now available for the respective architectures of Intel- and ARM-based Mac workstations.
Note
When you update the client to an ARM silicon-based installer for the first time, use the SMS Web interface to download the new installer and begin the installation; otherwise, an initial upgrade that uses the client's upgrade process ends up installing the Intel (x86) version of the installer and runs it using Rosetta 2. Using the SMS Web interface for an ARM silicon-based installer is only necessary for the initial upgrade; afterwards, you can use the normal client upgrade process.- Open the
