ScanMail scans messages processed by the Domino mail router task, databases, documents,
directories. ScanMail processes these items based on filters and rules that are defined
in policies that you specify. See Planning for a Policy-based Antivirus and Content Security Protection.

NoteScanMail provides a default policy to automatically protect Domino servers as soon
as the installation finishes. The default policy cannot be deleted.

ScanMail does not scan the following:

Encrypted mail messages and their attachments
-
Password-protected files
-
Files that contain more than 20 layers of compression
-
Partial/incomplete messages
ScanMail provides the following types of scans:
