Enable protection against ransomware

When you complete the installation of your Trend Micro security software, a Folder Shield configuration window may appear to allow you to easily set up ransomware protection. Click Set Up Folder Shield, select the folders you want to protect and then click OK to turn on Folder Shield protection.

Alternatively, you can enable Folder Shield from the main console by following the steps below:

  1. On the main console, click the Data tab.
  2. Next to Folder Shield, click Configure.

    When clicking Configure for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions to set up Folder Shield.

  3. Move the slider to the ON position to enable Folder Shield protection.
  4. Click Manage Folders to add folders to the Protected Folders list.
  5. Click OK after you select the folders you want to protect to start protection.
