Your Trend Micro security software can prevent ransomware from maliciously encrypting your files and holding them hostage until you pay the attacker. Folder Shield adds an extra layer of defense that limits access to files within the protected folder. Folder Shield now offers protection for multiple folders and has been updated for easier management and configuration.
Use Folder Shield
To start using the feature, click the Data tab on the main console and click the Configure button next to Folder Shield.
To protect a folder, click Manage Folders and select the folder that contains your most important files. Click OK to add the folder to the Protected Folders list. Your security software will notify you if any unknown programs try to open files protected by Folder Shield. You can block these programs from accessing your files if you do not recognize them.
Trusted program list
You can use this list to specify programs that can access files protected by Folder Shield. Any programs that you have trusted when asked by your security software will also be added to the list.
To find the list, open Folder Shield and click the Trusted Program List link.

Click the Add button to open a window for selecting a file to put on the list. You can only add one file at a time.

Click the Remove button after selecting the check box next to at least one program on the list.
