The Preconfiguration Console main menu displays the following menu items:

1) Device Information and Status
View information about Deep Discovery Inspector and monitor memory usage.
2) Device Settings
Modify the Deep Discovery Inspector IP address, subnet mask, network default gateway address, and DNS servers.
3) Interface Settings
View the network speed and duplex mode for the management port, automatically detected by Deep Discovery Inspector.
4) System Tasks
Configure the following:
  • Perform a diagnostic test
  • Ping a server in the same subnet
  • Configure the SSH connection
  • Restart the system
  • Configure manual traffic bypass (on supported hardware models)
5) Change Password
Change the root password.

The Preconfiguration Console uses the US English (en-us) keyboard layout, not your physical keyboard layout. When you set a password in the Preconfiguration Console, the system registers the US keyboard character mapping.
Certain characters are mapped differently in non-US keyboards. For example, on a UK keyboard, the quotation mark (") character is located where the at sign (@) is on a US keyboard.
Make note of any special characters in your password to ensure you can sign in later.
6) Log Off with Saving
Log off from the Preconfiguration Console after saving changes.
7) Log Off without Saving
Log off from the Preconfiguration Console without saving changes.
To access a menu item, type the number for the menu item and then press ENTER.
