Deep Discovery Email Inspector uses the SMTP server settings to send alert notifications and reports.
For details about processing SMTP traffic, see Mail Settings.
- Go to Administration > System Settings > SMTP.
- Type the Sender email address.

Option
Description
Internal postfix server
Select this option to use the postfix server embedded in Deep Discovery Email Inspector as an SMTP server.
Note:Internal postfix is not available when operating in BCC mode and SPAN/TAP mode.
External SMTP server
Select this option to specify a standalone SMTP server, such as Microsoft Exchange.
Server address
Type the external SMTP server host name, IPv4 address or IPv6 address.
Port
Type the external SMTP server port number.
Connection security
Select a security protocol if required for the connection.
SMTP server requires authentication
Select this option if connection to the SMTP server requires authentication.
Note:-
Make sure that you configure the user name and password correctly. An external SMTP server may refuse connection from Deep Discovery Email Inspector after the maximum number of unsuccessful authentication attempts has been reached.

Clicking Test Connection checks the connection from Deep Discovery Email Inspector to the external SMTP server, but does not verify SMTP server authentication.
User name
Type the user name used for authentication.
Note:This option is only available if SMTP server requires authentication is selected.
Password
Type the password used for authentication.
Note:This option is only available if SMTP server requires authentication is selected.

- Click Save.

(Optional) To test the connection to the external SMTP
server, do the following:
- Click Test Connection.
- Type the recipient email address.

Deep Discovery Email Inspector does not send a test email message to the recipient.
