Setup prompts for the following information when installing the Trend Micro Apex One server.

Installation Checklist

Installation Information Required
Trend Micro Apex One Installation path
The default server installation path is:
  • C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Apex One
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\Apex One (for x64 type platforms)
Identify the installation path or use the default path. If the path does not exist, Setup creates it automatically.
Proxy server settings
If the Trend Micro Apex One server connects to the Internet through a proxy server, specify the following:
  • Proxy type (HTTP or SOCKS 4)
  • Server name or IP address
  • Port
  • Proxy authentication credentials
Web server settings
The web server runs web console CGIs and accepts commands from agents. Specify the following:
  • HTTP port: The default port is 8080. If you are using the IIS default web site, check the HTTP server's TCP port.

WARNING
Many hacker and virus/malware attacks delivered over HTTP use ports 80 and/or 8080. Most organizations use these port numbers as the default TCP port for HTTP communications. Use other port numbers if the default port numbers are currently in use.
If enabling secure connections:
  • SSL certificate validity period
  • SSL port (Default: 4343)
Registration
Register the product to receive the Activation Codes. The following information is necessary to register the product:
  • For returning users:
    • Online registration account (logon name and password)
  • For users without an account:
    • Registration Key
Activation
Obtain the Activation Code
Integrated Smart Protection Server installation
When installing the integrated server, specify the following:
  • SSL certificate validity period
  • SSL port
Install the Security Agent
Administrator account password
Setup creates a root account for web console logon. Specify the following:
  • Root account password
Prevent unauthorized uninstallation or unloading of the Security Agent by specifying the following:
  • Security Agent uninstallation/unloading password
Security Agent installation path
Specify the directory on the agent endpoint where the Security Agent installation occurs. Specify the following:
  • Installation path: The default agent installation path is C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Agent or C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\Security Agent. Identify the installation path or use the default path. If the path does not exist, Setup creates it during agent installation.
  • Security Agent communication port number
Server Authentication Certificate
Trend Micro Apex One attempts to detect preexisting authentication certificates during installation. If Trend Micro Apex One does not detect a certificate, specify the backup password for the new certificate.
Program folder shortcut
The shortcut to the Trend Micro Apex One server installation folder displays from the Windows Start menu. The default shortcut name is Trend Micro Trend Micro Apex One Server-<Server_name>. Identify a different name or use the default name.
