Detect Web Threats

Switch on this feature to help make sure that you do not open unsafe websites.

Whenever you try to open a website, Antivirus for Mac will make sure it does not contain hidden threats. If the website poses a risk, Antivirus for Mac can block the page automatically.

To customize this protection, click Web on the left side of the window.

Real-Time Scanning

Switch on this feature to make Antivirus for Mac automatically check any file you open for malicious software.

Antivirus for Mac will try to remove any malicious software found. If unable to clean the file, Antivirus for Mac will quarantine it instead.

To see what has been found during scans, click Logs on the left side of the window. From the Logs window, you can also check which files have been quarantined.

Camera & Microphone Protection

Turn on this feature to allow Antivirus for Mac to automatically detect camera and microphone access.

Whenever software is using your camera or microphone, Antivirus for Mac will notify you to protect your privacy.

Update Now

Click this button if you want to make sure that Antivirus for Mac has the latest update needed to protect against new unsafe websites and malicious software.

If you have not connected your Mac to the Internet for more than a few days, you might want to click this button the next time you go online, just to make sure that you have up-to-date protection when opening websites.

Scan Now

Click this button to make Antivirus for Mac check your Mac for malicious software.

Antivirus for Mac will try to remove any malicious software found. If unable to clean the file, Antivirus for Mac will quarantine it instead.

To customize what the scan will check, click Scans on the left side of the window, and then click Change Settings....

Protection Strength

You can select from three levels of protection that determine how strictly Antivirus for Mac will block access to risky or unsafe websites.

Level

Description

Low

Antivirus for Mac will only block websites verified as dangerous. These sites can transmit malicious software or actively support online fraud.

Normal

Antivirus for Mac will block websites that have characteristics associated with online fraud, or that show signs of transmitting malicious software. It will also block unrated sites that show basic signs of posing a threat.

High

Antivirus for Mac blocks all websites stopped by the previous levels. It also prevents you from opening sites that have been hijacked in the past, or could have some association with junk email.
