Trend Micro Control Manager is a software management solution to control Trend Micro and third-party antivirus and content security programs from a central location. This application simplifies the administration of a corporate virus and content security policy.
Control Manager uses the following components:
Control Manager server — acts as a repository for all data collected from the agents. It can be a Standard or Advanced server. A Control Manager server includes the following features:
An SQL database that stores managed product configurations and logs
A Web server that hosts the Control Manager management console
A mail server that delivers event notifications through email
A report server, present only in the Advanced edition, that generates antivirus and content security products reports
Trend Micro Management Communication Protocol (MCP) — Trend Micro's new agent protocol with SSO, cluster node support, HTTP/HTTPS communication, and one-way communication for NAT support
Trend Micro Infrastructure — handles the Control Manager server interaction with managed products using older agents
Agent — receives commands from the Control Manager server and sends status information and logs to the Control Manager server
Web-based management console — provides control of the Control Manager network from virtually any computer with an Internet connection and Microsoft™ Internet Explorer™
Control Manager uses three-tier client-server architecture:
