A brief description of the options available on this screen is available below.
All attachments: Select to specify attachment types to block.
Attachment types to exclude: Select to specify attachment types to exclude from the Global Policy.
Application and executables: Select to specify specific application and executable file types to exclude.
Documents: Select to specify specific document file types to exclude.
Images: Select to specify specific image file types to exclude.
Video: Select to specify specific video file types to exclude.
Sound: Select to specify specific sound file types to exclude.
Compressed files: Select to specify specific compressed file types to exclude.
Attachment names to exclude: Select to specify specific attachment names to exclude from the Global Policy.
Specific file extensions to exclude (use ; to separate entries): Select to specify file extensions to exclude.
Add: Type the file extensions in the text box and click Add.
Delete: Click to delete the selected extension from the list.
Attachment names to exclude: Select to specify specific attachment names to exclude.
Add: Type the file name in the text box and click Add.
Delete: Click to delete the selected file name from the list.
Specific attachments: Select to specify attachments

Delete: Click to delete the selected file name from the list.
Block attachment types or names within compressed files: Select to block attachment types within compressed files.
Scan Restriction Criteria: Click to specify scan restriction criteria.
Number of layers of compression exceeds: Specify a number from 1 to 20 to use as the threshold for not scanning compression files. If the number of compression layers exceeds the specified number, the file is not scanned.
Cancel: Click to cancel.
Save: Click to save changes.
Reset: Click to discard changes and revert to ScanMail default values.
To configure attachment blocking target settings:
Log on to the product console.
Click Attachment Blocking from the main menu. The Attachment Blocking screen displays.
Click Global Policy from the list of policies and exceptions. The Global policy settings screen displays.
Click the Target tab. The Target screen displays.
Select from one of the following:
All attachments.
Select Attachment types to exclude and/or Attachment names to exclude. Click Show details to specify specific types or names.
Specific Attachments. Click Show details to specify specific types or names.
Select Attachment types to exclude and/or Attachment names to exclude. Click Show details to specify specific types or names.
Select Block attachment types or names within compressed files.
Click Save.
