You can block attachments according to a specific name or according to an attachment type. ScanMail determines attachment type by the file name extension and true file type. Block attachments with two general strategies: either block all attachments and then exclude specified attachments or specify all the attachments to block.
A brief description of the options available on this screen is available below.
Enable transportation level attachment blocking: Select this to scan the Transport level.
This displays for ScanMail with Exchange Server 2010 and 2007.
Enable store level attachment blocking: Select this to scan the Store level.
This displays for ScanMail with Exchange Server 2010 and 2007.
Enable real-time attachment blocking: Select this to scan attachments in real time.
This displays for ScanMail with Exchange Server 2003.
Add Exception: Click to add an exception policy.
Reorder: Click to specify a new priority by typing a number in the text box that displays under priority.
Accounts: Click the account name to edit.
Policy: Click the policy name to edit the exception or Global Policy.
Status: Click the status icon to enable or disable the policy.
Page: Type a number to skip to that page.
Rows per page: Select the rows to display per page.
Save: Click to save your changes.
Reset: Click to change all settings to the ScanMail default values.
To enable attachment blocking:
Log on to the product console.
Click Attachment Blocking from the main menu. The Attachment Blocking screen displays.
Select Enable transport level attachment blocking.
Select Enable store level attachment blocking. (Exchange Server 2010 and 2007)
Select Enable real-time attachment blocking. (Exchange Server 2003)
Click Save to enable attachment blocking.
