Encrypting a Simple or RAID Device

WARNING

Encrypting a data storage device will destroy any existing data on the device. Ensure that no valuable data is on the device before encrypting. In addition, selecting the primary (root) disk for encryption will result in an encryption error.

Before encrypting a device, ensure that the following tasks are finished:

A storage device has been created

Note

Please refer to your cloud service provider’s documentation for details on how to create a storage device.

On Linux, ensure that the RAID utility mdadm has been installed.

Device has been provisioned

Procedure

On the Inventory > Devices page, select the desired device or RAID with a status of Configured.
Click Encrypt.

The status of the target device changes from Encryption Pending to Encrypted after the encryption process finishes in the Runtime Agent.

In Linux-based agents, if scconfig.sh finishes executing in the provisioning loop before you click Encrypt, execute the file again.
