A cloud service is a service made available to users on demand via the Internet
from a cloud services provider. Examples of cloud services include online data storage
and
document collaboration solutions, web-based email services and more, such as Microsoft
365 and
Dropbox.
Cloud services are designed to provide easy, scalable access to applications, resources
and
services. However, as web behavior has become more complicated, IT departments are
facing many
security problems posed by the use of cloud services, like enforcing browser type
policies,
blocking large file transfers to save bandwidth, and blocking web file uploads.
Cloud service filtering can help your organization get a handle on employee use of
cloud services. For example, control access to cloud services by allowing logon with
only
corporate account credentials.
TMWS allows
administrators to create cloud service filters to set HTTP request related criteria
based on
request methods, URLs, and headers, and then add these filters into cloud access rules
to
together monitor cloud service usage and enforce security policies.
TMWS provides six default
filters for common scenarios, such as blocking social networking services (SNS) uploads,
or
regulating web access through the use of certain types of browsers, or controlling
access to a
cloud service. You can open these filters and adjust them as necessary.
NoteCloud service filters cannot inspect the data payload of HTTP packets. For
example, it cannot look for pattern matching inside the text or file of a webmail
or social
networking site post. It can only identify that a POST action is happening to a defined
site or
set of sites and update the header fields of the corresponding request message as
configured.
