Main Console > Settings > Security & Tuneup Controls > PC Health Checkup

The PC Health Checkup checks for security vulnerabilities, improves system performance, and helps protect your privacy on the Internet.

Select Check for security vulnerabilities to make sure your computer stays up to date and properly configured for safety. The scan checks the following items:

Windows Updates Disabled

Microsoft regularly releases updates that fix problems and close security loopholes, so enabling this feature can prevent attackers from taking advantage of known weaknesses.

Firewall Protection Disabled

A working firewall helps prevent attackers from sending malicious software or data to your computer, so always keep it enabled.

Unsecure Internet Explorer Security Settings

Use this feature to apply the correct settings for Microsoft Internet Explorer and stop deceptive or dangerous websites from causing trouble.

User Account Control Settings Too Weak

The Microsoft Windows account system helps limit what software can do, so enable this feature to apply the correct settings and stop malicious programs from causing trouble.

Flash Player Update Disabled

Adobe regularly releases updates that fix problems and close security loopholes in their Flash Player used by many websites, so enabling this feature can prevent attackers from taking advantage of known weaknesses.

Java Version Outdated

Oracle regularly releases updates that fix problems and close security loopholes in the Java platform used by many websites, so updating Java can prevent attackers from taking advantage of known weaknesses.

Acrobat Reader Version Outdated

Adobe regularly releases updates that fix problems and close security loopholes in their Adobe Reader, a popular program for reading electronic documents, so updating Adobe Reader can prevent attackers from taking advantage of known weaknesses.

Select Check for unneeded system files to improve system performance and eliminate files that may contain private information about you and your behavior on the Internet. The scan checks the following items:

Temporary Windows files

This setting removes unnecessary leftover files that Microsoft Windows creates as it operates.

Windows Update history

This setting removes history logs and setup files created during Windows Update. Removing these files does not remove the installed updates.

Temporary web browser files

This setting removes files created automatically when you visit websites. Removing these files helps prevent others from tracking what you do online.

Temporary application files

This setting removes unnecessary leftover files that programs on the computer creates as they operate.

Recycle Bin contents

This setting permanently removes files that you have already deleted, but which someone could still recover.

Select Check for potentially incompatible programs to check for programs that may interfere with your security software and affect the performance of your computer.

Select Check for unprotected browser passwords to check for passwords saved in your browsers that can be protected by Trend Micro Password Manager.

Select Include PC Health Checkup with Quick Scan and Full Scan to check for security vulnerabilities, improve system performance, and help protect your privacy on the Internet along with the security scan.
