Cloud Edge automatically uses cloud-based Cloud Message Scan (CMS) for email security scanning. If CMS is not available (for example, if there are network issues between the on-premises Cloud Edge gateway and the CMS service), Cloud Edge continues to provide email security by switching to local email security scanning on the Cloud Edge gateway. Once CMS service is available, Cloud Edge can automatically revert back to CMS email security.
Note
Note
Cloud Edge does not scan IPv6 email traffic using either Cloud Message Scan or local scan. IPv6 email traffic passes through the gateway without scanning.
There are certain differences between cloud-based CMS scan and local scan.
