When a particular scan type runs, Trend Micro Security checks the scan exclusion list to determine which files on the computer will be excluded from scanning. The list is configured by the Trend Micro Security server's administrator to increase the scanning performance and skip scanning files that are known to be harmless.
When the administrator enables the scan exclusion list, Trend Micro Security will not scan a file under the following conditions:
File name match: The file name matches any of the names in the exclusion list.
File extension match: The file extension matches any of the extensions in the exclusion list.
