Trend Micro™ OfficeScan™ provides a framework called Plug-in Manager for deploying security solutions to many endpoints across different platforms. Plug-in Manager is composed of the following programs:

Description

Plug-in Manager server

Plug-in Manager server (also referred to as "Plug-in Manager" in this documentation) is a program installed on the same computer that hosts the Trend Micro OfficeScan server.

The Plug-in Manager server's console displays security solutions (such as TMAgent Manager) that can be installed and managed on the server computer. The console can be accessed from within the OfficeScan server's Web console.

By default, security solutions deployed through Plug-in Manager server are made available through the Trend Micro ActiveUpdate server. Plug-in Manager server polls the ActiveUpdate server periodically to check for new or updated solutions and then automatically displays them on the Plug-in Manager console.

Note: Earlier versions of TMAgent Manager are available from the ActiveUpdate server. However, this version is not. You need to use the standalone installation package to install or upgrade TMAgent Manager.

Plug-in Manager client

Plug-in Manager client is an endpoint-based program that displays security solutions (such as TMAgent Manager client) deployed on the endpoint.

Plug-in Manager client displays security solutions through a user interface accessible from the OfficeScan client console.
