When a user attempts to connect to the network using a blocked computer, Network VirusWall displays a Web page in the user's browser to announce the blockage. It identifies the vulnerabilities that have resulted in the block and instructs the user to click a link to get redirected to a secure page for downloading a security patch or performing an action to resolve the vulnerability.
When a user resolves the vulnerability and manually assesses his or her computer, Vulnerability Assessment updates the assessment results for that computer. The next time that Network VirusWall queries Vulnerability Assessment, it will find no reason to continue blocking the computer and so release it.
To perform a manual assessment, do the following:
Click the link to obtain a security patch or learn about how to resolve the vulnerability.
When you have resolved the vulnerability, return to the manual assessment page and click Start reassessment. The status bar appears showing you the progress of the reassessment.
Click Stop to interrupt the assessment. The data from the current assessment will be discarded.
When the assessment is complete, the OK button appears.
When you click Start reassessment, ActiveX controls deploy to your computer to perform the reassessment. The Security Settings in your browser must be set to medium for Internet and Medium for local intranet to allow ActiveX controls to download (these are the default settings for Internet Explorer 6). Refer to Internet Explorer help for more information about setting your browser security level).
Click OK to close the Web page.
