automatic_client_grouping
Map Active Directory domain(s) or IP address(es) to OfficeScan domains. OfficeScan periodically checks the computer's Active Directory domain or IP address and maps the client to an OfficeScan domain.
To ease OfficeScan domain management, you can do one of the following:
Replicate Active Directory structure when creating automatic client groupings
Create an entirely new structure using Active Directory objects or IP address(es)
After creating automatic client groups, you can manually sort clients or OfficeScan can automatically move clients when the following events occur:
Client installation
Clients reload
Clients change IP addresses
Clients enable or disable roaming mode
To automatically group clients, perform the following tasks: >>>
Networked Computers > Client Grouping
Select Custom client groups.
Add Custom client groups using one of the following methods:
Define the client grouping priority by selecting a client group and clicking the arrows to move the group up or down the list. The ID number of the client group changes to reflect the new position. Do this so that if a client falls under two client groups, OfficeScan moves the client to the higher ranking client group.
For example, client grouping has two rules:
Grouping 1 maps all administrators to the Administrator domain.
Grouping 2 maps all computers with IP addresses that fall under 192.1.1.1 to 200.1.1.1 to Undetermined.
Therefore, OfficeScan maps client computer US-administrator with IP address 192.123.123.123 to the Administrator domain and not to the Undetermined domain because Grouping 1 has a higher priority than Grouping 2.
If you did not create a new domain or only want to save the configuration settings, click Save. If you created a new domain in step 2, you can do either of the following:
Create the domain immediately by clicking Save and Create Domain Now.
To postpone the domain creation:
Enable scheduled domain creation.
Specify the schedule.
Click Save.
Notes:
Clicking Save and Create Domain Now or performing scheduled domain creation creates a domain in the client tree. This may take a long time to complete, especially if the scope is broad. However, this does not move existing clients to this domain. To move the clients, refer to To sort clients: >>>.
OfficeScan can automatically move clients when the following events occur:
Client installation
Clients reload
Clients change IP addresses
Clients enable or disable roaming mode
