Custom Lists

If you select custom lists, specify a range of IP addresses for a custom list. If a client’s IP address is within the range, the client uses the custom list.

  1. Optionally, enable the Use the standard list if all servers on the custom lists are unavailable option.

  2. Click Add.

  3. In the screen that opens, specify the following:

  4. Specify the Smart Protection Server name or IP address. This Smart Protection Server hosts File Reputation Services, Web Reputation Services, or both. File Reputation Services supports HTTP or HTTPS, while Web Reputation Services supports only HTTP connection.

  5. To obtain the Smart Protection Server address:

  6. Select whether this server will host File Reputation Services, Web Reputation Services, or both.

  7. Specify the port number for secure connection.

  8. Optionally, enable SSL if the connection specified is HTTPS. HTTPS allows for a more secure connection while HTTP uses less bandwidth.

  9. Click Test Connection to verify if connection to the server can be established.

  10. Click Save when the test connection is successful. The Smart Protection Source screen displays.

  2. Smart Protection Services supports HTTP or HTTPS, while Web Reputation Services supports only HTTP connection. HTTPS allows for a more secure connection while HTTP uses less bandwidth.

  3. To open the console of a Smart Protection Server, click Launch console.

  4. To delete an entry, click the icon under Delete.

  5. Select whether clients will refer to the servers in the order in which they appear on the list or randomly. If you select Order, use the arrows under the Order column to move servers up and down the list.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Back in the Smart Protection Source screen, select whether to refer to the standard list if the client is unable to connect to any server on the custom list.

  8. To modify an IP address range and its corresponding custom list, click the link under IP Range.

  9. To export the custom lists to a .dat file, click Export and then click Save.

  10. If you have exported custom lists from another server and want to import them to this screen, click Import and locate the .dat file. The lists load on the screen.
