Configuring Message Delivery Settings Parent topic

IMSVA maintains a routing table based on recipient domains and email addresses. IMSVA then uses this routing table to route email messages (with matching recipient domains or email addresses) to specified destination servers or to destination servers that match specified mail exchanger records (MX records).
There are two message delivery methods:
  • MX record lookup
    When delivering an email message using MX record lookup, IMSVA queries the specified MX record, and then delivers the email message to the destination server identified by the MX record.
  • Static routing
    When delivering an email message using static routing, IMSVA first sends the email message to the destination server with the highest priority. If the server is unavailable, IMSVA chooses the remaining servers in descending order of their priority. If multiple destination servers have the same priority, IMSVA randomly selects a server for message delivery.

Specifying Message Delivery Settings Parent topic

Specify settings for the next stage of delivery. IMSVA checks the recipient domains or email addresses, determines destination servers, and sends email messages to the selected destination servers.

Procedure

  1. Go to Administration → IMSVA Configuration → SMTP Routing.
  2. Click the Message Delivery tab.
    The Message Delivery Settings screen appears.
  3. In the Message Delivery Settings section, click Add.
    The Add Message Delivery Settings screen appears.
  4. Specify the recipient domain or email address.
  5. Select either of the following from the Delivery method drop-down list:
    • MX record lookup: Specify the detailed MX record settings, including the MX record name and port, to identify destination servers.
    • Static routing: Specify the detailed destination server settings, including the server address, port, and preference, and then click Add Destination Server.
      The specified destination server is added to the destination server list.

      Preference represents the priority of destination servers. The lower the preference value, the higher the priority.
      Optionally add multiple destination servers for one recipient domain or email address.
  6. Click Save.
    The recipient domain or email address is added to the Message Delivery Settings table.

Editing Message Delivery Settings Parent topic

Procedure

  1. Go to Administration → IMSVA Configuration → SMTP Routing.
  2. Click the Message Delivery tab.
    The Message Delivery Settings screen appears.
  3. In the Message Delivery Settings section, click a record in the Domain or Email Address column.
  4. Update the recipient domain or email address in the Domain or Email Address section.
  5. Select either of the following from the Delivery method drop-down list:
    • MX record lookup: Update the detailed MX record settings, including the MX record name and port.
    • Static routing: Update the detailed destination server settings, including the server address, port, and preference, and then click Add Destination Server.
      The updated destination server is added to the destination server list.

      To disable a destination server, click the check mark for the server in the Enable column. Then the check mark becomes a cross mark. To enable the server again, click the cross mark.
  6. Click Save.

Importing Message Delivery Settings Parent topic

Use this option if you have a properly formatted .xml file containing message delivery settings. Optionally, export existing settings from the management console and generate a file according to the exported file.

Procedure

  1. Go to Administration → IMSVA Configuration → SMTP Routing.
  2. Click the Message Delivery tab.
    The Message Delivery Settings screen appears.
  3. In the Message Delivery Settings section, click Import.
    The Import Message Delivery Settings screen appears.
  4. Click Browse to locate the file to import.
  5. Select one of the following:
    • Merge with current list
    • Overwrite current list
  6. Click Import.

Exporting Message Delivery Settings Parent topic

Procedure

  1. Go to Administration → IMSVA Configuration → SMTP Routing.
  2. Click the Message Delivery tab.
    The Message Delivery Settings screen appears.
  3. In the Message Delivery Settings section, select a record in the Domain or Email Address column.
  4. Click Export.
