About Trend Micro ServerProtect 5.58 ======================================================================== 1.1 Overview of This Release ===================================================================== This release makes minor modifications for ServerProtect which enable it to accept new multi-digit pattern files higher than 999. Please refer to section 2.2 Pattern File Numbering System for detailed information. 1.2 Who Should Install This Release ===================================================================== You should install this minor release if you are currently running ServerProtect 5.35/5.5/5.56. 2. What's New ======================================================================== 2.1 Resolved Known Issues (from Previous Versions) ===================================================================== 1. Fixed the buffer overrun issue when the administrator's password is longer than 20 characters. 2. ServerProtect will delete accumulated pattern files after deploying a new one; only the last two pattern files will be stored in the ServerProtect home directory. 3. Extended the functionality of ServerProtect to generate the mapped drives list when performing "Scan Now" on Windows Server 2003. 4. Fixed issue regarding the exclamation icons appearing for ServerProtect entities on Control Manager console when rebooting or restarting a server hosting Control Manager Server, an Information Server, and a Normal Server. 5. Added a URL for Product Registration Web site to perform registration. 6. A notification message will appear while moving Normal Servers to another ServerProtect domain. 2.2 Pattern File Numbering System ===================================================================== ServerProtect 5.58 makes use of a new pattern file numbering format: n.nnn.nn Under this system, the first 4 digits represent the pattern file number and the last two digits represent the file build or controlled release version. Under the new system, pattern file 628, released in 2003, is displayed as 1.628.00. This new format has no impact on the product other virus scanning functions or on the functionality of other Trend Micro products still using the old format. Versions 2.5 and lower of Trend Micro Control Manager will still recognize and display pattern file numbers using the older 3-digit format. 3. Document Set ======================================================================== o The documentation set for this product includes: o Readme.txt -- version enhancements, basic installation, known issues, release history o Knowledge Base -- a searchable database of known product issues, including specific problem-solving and troubleshooting topics. kb.trendmicro.com/solutions/ Electronic versions of the printed manuals are available at: www.trendmicro.com/download/ 4. Installation ======================================================================== This section explains key steps for installing the software. Please refer to the Online Help for detailed information. 1. Double-click Setup.exe to launch ServerProtect 5.58 and follow instructions. After installed ServerProtect 5.58, the program files will be created under "%System Drive%:\Program Files\Trend\". The registry key name will be created under "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro" 2. Verify the new program version has been successfully upgraded by checking program version from the Management Console after the installation. 3. If after the upgraded program you want to roll back the original one, you will need to uninstall current running ServerProtect first. Then reinstall the original program to the system. 5.1 Installing ServerProtect 5.x in Silent mode (Windows Server 2003/2000/NT) ============================================================================= Use Silent mode if you want to install Windows Server 2003/2000/NT Normal Servers. The ServerProtect 5.x silent installation procedure is slightly different from the one for ServerProtect NT 4.7. To install ServerProtect 5.x in silent mode: 1. Install an Information Server. 2. Locate the "SMS" folder, and share it. Make sure that the folder can be accessed by the servers to which you want to install Normal Servers. If you want to perform more than one silent installation, map the SMS folder on the target servers. 3. At the target server, open a command prompt, go to the SMS folder or drive that is mapped to the folder, and then enter the following command: setup -SMS -s -m"SPNT5" Example: a. At the target server, map the SMS folder to drive "M". b. Open a command prompt. c. Go to drive M: by typing "M:". d. Type setup -SMS -s -m"SPNT5", then Enter. Silent install will proceed and the target machine will be registered to the Information Server. For silent installation, Normal Servers are installed in the "SMS" domain. The SMS domain is hard coded so there is no way to change the domain during the silent installation in SMS. An alternative method to change the "SMS" domain consists of first installing all Normal Servers, and then renaming the SMS domain. You can also specify a path to which ServerProtect is installed. For example, to install ServerProtect to the path "D:\Utility\AntiVirus\Sprotect" do the following: 1. Locate the SETUP.INI file in the source folder. 2. Add the following lines: [CommonSection] ServerTargetLocalPath=D:\Utility\AntiVirus\Sprotect ServerTargetLocalPath: Sets the location where the Normal Server is installed. To license the installed Normal Server, add the following lines to the SETUP.INI file in the source folder. [CommonSection] ServerTargetSN=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX: Represents the legal serial number. 5.2 Removing Trend Micro ServerProtect 5.58 After Trial Period ===================================================================== Please refer to the Online Help to remove ServerProtect. 6. Post-Installation Configuration ======================================================================== Please refer to the Online Help for post-installation configuration information. Known Issues ======================================================================== Here are the known issues in this release: 7.1 When ServerProtect 5.58 Management Console manages ServerProtect 5.5/5.56 Normal Servers, the pattern version of these servers will still appear in the old 3-digit format. To use the new pattern file numbering format, upgrade to ServerProtect 5.58. ===================================================================== 7.2 After upgrading from ServerProtect 5.3x/5.5/5.56, ServerProtect 5.58 cannot roll back to previous program versions from the Management Console. ===================================================================== 7.3 The ServerProtect 5.58 Management Console can't manage ServerProtect 5.3x Normal Servers. When managing ServerProtect, the program version of each Normal Server should be the same, or superior to that of the Information Server managing them. In addition, the program version of the Information Server should be the same or higher than that of the Management Console. ServerProtect 5.58 Management Console can't modify task settings for ServerProtect 5.35 Normal servers. ===================================================================== 7.4 Updating ServerProtect 5.2 or below to 5.58 is not supported from the Management Console. Alternatively, remove the existing ServerProtect version, and then install ServerProtect 5.58 from the Setup program. ===================================================================== 7.5 When you install ServerProtect 5.58 on Windows Server 2003, you will get a logon failure error if your logon account password is blank. ServerProtect will not be installed because Windows Server 2003 has a user account restriction. ===================================================================== 7.6 The "Deny Write" function will not work if Real-time Scan is disabled. ===================================================================== 7.7 File types placed in the deny write list of a NetWare Normal Server can still be modified by the Notepad editor. ===================================================================== 7.8 When you enable either Real-time Scan or Scan Now and choose delete as the scan action on a NetWare Normal Server, any virus detected on a CD-ROM will create a "deleted successfully" log entry. ===================================================================== 7.9 ServerProtect 5.58 for NetWare doesn't support sending fully status log, virus log and Outbreak Prevention Policy commands issued by Control Manager 2.5 server. ===================================================================== 7.10 When a Normal Server is disconnected from the server, a stop sign is displayed in the Management Console, but nothing in the Control Manager console. ===================================================================== 7.11 If the Normal Server and the Information Server are in a different language, issuing the deploy command from the Management Console will result in failure. ===================================================================== 7.12 If the name of the computer hosting a Normal Server contains double-byte characters (Chinese, Korean, or Japanese characters) ,moving a Normal Server to another Information Server will fail. ===================================================================== 7.13 During idle mode, any changes made to the domain browser tree in the Management Console will not be synchronized with the Control Manager console. Also, any modifications made to the domain browser tree due to a Normal or Information Server disconnection will not be reflected in the Control Manager console. ===================================================================== 7.14 After Control Manager agent installation, ServerProtect will send all pre-existing logs to Control Manager Server. This may generate additional network traffic. To avoid redundancy, purge all logs from the Management Console before installing the agent. ===================================================================== 7.15 If the installed Information Server and Control Manager agent are in different languages, the Control Manager console will display the agent's language in the product language field under status information. ===================================================================== 7.16 Sometimes when Windows Terminal Services is running on a scan server or a Normal server, you are unable to view mapped drives or directories in the Add Drives and/or Directories dialog box (Scan Now > Selected drives/directories > Browse). If this occurs, disable the Windows Terminal Services running on the scan server or Normal Server. ===================================================================== 7.17 Performing remote install to NetWare Servers using IP only may not succeed. To avoid this, please enable the IPX on NetWare Servers or use master setup program as an alternative. ===================================================================== 8.
