Registering an On-Premises Gateway

Upon successful installation, an on-premises gateway can work properly only after it is registered to the TMWS management console, where you can manage the gateway and distribute configured policies to it.

  1. Log on to the management console, and go to Gateways .
    1. Click Add On-Premises Gateway.

The Add On-Premises Gateway window appears.

    2. (Optional) If you have not installed the on-premises gateway yet, Click Download the installation package to download the installation package and install it locally.
    3. Copy or write down the registration token displayed under Registration token. To generate and use a new registration token, click Generate New Token.
  2. Log on to the TMWS on-premises gateway web console (hereinafter referred to as "the web console"), and go to Administration > Register to Cloud Console.
    1. Configure the following information:

      Display name

Specify a name for the on-premises gateway. This name will also appear under Gateway Name on the Gateways screen on the management console.

      Registration token

Paste or type the registration token obtained from the management console in the text box.

      Duplicate check

Select how you want to register the on-premises gateway when it has the same display name as an existing on-premises gateway. Options include:

      • Do not allow duplicate: Registration will fail. You need to specify a different display name and then continue with the registration.

      • Replace the existing on-premises gateway: The gateway will take place of the existing one while retaining the policies and settings already configured for it on the TMWS management console.

This is a convenient way of reusing the existing policies and settings of an existing on-premises gateway in some special cases. For example, when the old VM where an on-premises gateway is installed becomes corrupted, or when an upgrade to a newer main version of an on-premises gateway is required.

By default, it is set to Do not allow duplicate.

When selecting Replace the existing on-premises gateway, make sure that the old VM is already stopped or powered off.

(Optional) Specify a meaningful description to easily identify the on-premises gateway. The description will also appear under Description on the Gateways screen on the management console.

      Current status

View the current status of the on-premises gateway. Options include:

      • Unregistered: Before the on-premises gateway is successfully registered, its status is Unregistered.

      • Registered: The on-premises gateway is successfully registered.

    2. Click Register.
  3. (Optional) Verify that the on-premises gateway can connect to the AD FS server if AD FS is used to authenticate AD users of your organization.
    1. Open a browser and set the on-premises gateway as the proxy server.
    2. Type the address https://<adfshost>/adfs/ls/idpinitiatedsignon.htm in the address bar and press Enter. adfshost is the host name of the AD FS server deployed in your organization.

The AD FS logon page opens.
