Verifying Domain Ownership

To send phishing simulation emails to more than five recipients, verify your email domain using a TXT record.

Trend Micro Vision One needs to verify your email domain to confirm that you have adequate permission to send phishing simulations in your organization. This security precaution prevents bad actors from impersonating members of your organization. Unverified users can only send phishing simulation emails to a maximum of five recipients. Complete the following steps to verify your email domain and send phishing simulation emails to more than five recipients.

  1. Copy your unique domain TXT record.
    Note:

    Every Trend Micro Vision One user is assigned a unique TXT key. When you start a phishing simulation, Trend Micro Vision One checks the domain server for the TXT record to confirm that the domain is verified.

    1. On the Trend Micro Vision One console, go to Assessments > Security Assessments.
    2. In the Phishing Simulation section, click Start Assessment.
    3. Add six or more recipients to Phishing Simulation.
    4. Click Verify Now.
    5. Copy the TXT record.
  2. Add the TXT record to your domain host.
    Note:

    The process of adding the TXT record varies depending on your domain host. Consult your domain host documentation for instructions.

    The following list contains links to instructions for adding TXT records to common domain hosting providers.

  3. Confirm that your domain is verified.
    1. In Trend Micro Vision One Phishing Simulation, return to Settings and click the refresh icon () to check your verification status.
    Note: Configuring your DNS with a TXT record may take up to 72 hours to take effect, depending on your domain host. Trend Micro Vision One checks the domain configuration every hour for 14 days.
