Enabling or Disabling Real-Time Scanning

You have many ways to start or stop checking for malicious software automatically.

Use the basic controls

From the Overview window, slide the Real-Time Scanning switch either ON or OFF.

... or, jump to the Preferences window

  1. On the Overview window, click the words Real-Time Scanning to open the Real-Time Scanning settings screen.
  2. Use the  Enable Real-Time Scanning setting to enable or disable this feature.

... or, open the Preferences window in other ways

  1. If you have already opened Trend Micro Titanium, click Trend Micro Titanium near the top left corner of your screen, and then click Preferences.

    or

    Click the Trend Micro Titanium icon near the top right corner of your screen, and then select Open Preferences....

  2. Click Scans at the top of the window that opens.

  3. Mark the Enable Real-time Scanning checkbox to enable this feature, or clear the checkbox to disable it.

Verify that your protection works

Visit http://www.eicar.org/download/eicar.com.txt. Your security software will recognize this file as a virus and display a warning message that it handled the threat.

Note:

Although your security software recognizes this file as a virus, it actually poses no threat to your computer and can be used safely for testing purposes.
