How to find this tool:
Main Console > Privacy > Data Theft Prevention
This tool can protect sensitive personal information, such as credit card numbers or passwords for websites. Upon detecting any attempt to send protected information to the Internet, whether to a web page, by email or through an instant message, the transmission can be blocked automatically.
Data Theft Prevention monitors HTTP traffic (ports 80, 81, 8080, and any proxy server port configured in your Microsoft® Internet Explorer® settings), but not HTTPS traffic (encrypted information cannot be filtered).
Data Theft Prevention works with the following software:
Microsoft® Internet Explorer® (The newest version of Internet Explorer)
Mozilla® Firefox® (The newest version and the most recent previous version of Mozilla Firefox)
Google Chrome™ (The newest version and the most recent previous version of Google Chrome)
Microsoft Outlook and other SMTP email programs
This feature can only protect information that you have defined. However, you do not need to enter a complete credit card, bank account, or Social Security number to gain this protection. As few as four of the digits entered in the correct order can stand for and effectively protect the entire sequence.
Click the switch on the left side of the window ON to start using this tool. You can specify information for two categories, which you can rename if you like. Click New Category to add another item to the list, or click the trash bin icon next to something that you no longer want to protect.
