Why doesn't the Privacy Scanner appear in Facebook, Twitter, or Google+?

You must enable the Trend Micro Toolbar before using the Privacy Scanner.

To enable the toolbar:

  1. Close the browser completely by pressing the <command> and <Q> keys at the same time.
  2. Open the main console of Antivirus for Mac.
  3. Click Web on the left side, and then Toolbar at the top.
  4. Enable the Trend Micro Toolbar for the browser that does not show it.
    Note:

    If the toolbar was already enabled, try disabling and then enabling the toolbar again.

  5. Open the browser and make sure that the Trend Micro Toolbar now appears there.

Why were my privacy settings not scanned?

You must stay signed into Facebook, Twitter™, or Google+ for Privacy Scanner to work. How you do that depends on the website. You also must not close the tab that the Privacy Scanner automatically opens.

Note:

If you close the browser tab opened by the Privacy Scanner before it has finished making changes, then it cannot change your privacy settings.

Choosing "Keep me logged in" with Facebook

  1. Log out of Facebook.
  2. When the Log in window appears, mark the Keep me logged in checkbox.
  3. Provide your Facebook credentials, and then click Log In.

Choosing "Remember me" with Twitter

  1. Sign out of Twitter.
  2. At the Sign in window, mark the Remember me checkbox.
  3. Provide your Twitter credentials, and then click Sign in.

Choosing "Stay signed in" with Google+

  1. Sign out of Google+.
  2. At the Sign in window, mark the Stay signed in checkbox.
  3. Provide your Google+ credentials, and then click Sign in.

Why can't I scan my Google+ account?

Privacy Scanner can only check your Google+ profile for privacy concerns, not your Google account. If you keep seeing the "Once the Google+ site opens again automatically, please leave it open to scan the settings" message, you can probably solve the problem by following these recommendations:

  • You must not close any browser tabs opened by the Privacy Scanner until it has finished.

  • You have created a Google+ profile, and not just a Google account.

  • Your computer can connect to the Internet.

Why did I get the error "Something Went Wrong"?

This error message appears if something unexpected happens. To solve the problem:

  • Make sure that your computer can connect to the Internet.

  • Do not close any browser tabs opened by the Privacy Scanner until it has finished.
