Manual Scan Settings

From the Scan screen users can specify CPU Usage for scans and compressed file scan options. Users can also specify the action that Trend Micro™ Security (for Macintosh) takes when it detects malware. Additionally, specify files and extensions that Security (for Macintosh) should not scan.

CPU Usage:  choose between scan performance and computer performance when Security (for Macintosh) runs a scan.

High: best scan performance but computer performance may be affected.

Low: best computer performance but scan results may be affected.

Scan compressed files:  compressed file scans utilize computer resources and can affect performance.

Action:  specify an action for Security (for Macintosh) to take when it detects malware.

Recommended action:  Security (for Macintosh) first attempts to clean the file. If Security (for Macintosh) is unable to clean the file, it will attempt another action. Trend Micro recommends using the Recommended action.

Customize action:  specify a first and second action for Security (for Macintosh) to take when it detects malware. If Security (for Macintosh) is unable to perform the first action on the file, it will attempt the second action. If you are not familiar with the different types of malware, Trend Micro recommends selecting the Recommended action.

Scan Exception List:  specify files and extensions that Security (for Macintosh) should exclude from scans.
