
Preconfiguration_Console_Access
This topic discusses how to access the Preconfiguration Console of the appliance and virtual appliance.
To access the Preconfiguration Console of the appliance:
There are several ways to access the Preconfiguration Console.
From a monitor with a VGA port:
Connect the VGA port to the VGA port of the appliance using a VGA cable.
From a computer with an ethernet port:
Connect the ethernet port to the management port of the appliance using a general ethernet cable.
The computer’s IP address must be in the same subnet as the management port’s IP address.
On the computer, open an SSH communication application such as PuTTY.
To connect to the appliance from another computer in your network (not directly connected to the appliance), ensure that you access the computer connected to the management port.
Use the following values if you are accessing the console for the first time:
IP address (for SSH connection only): by default, it is 192.168.252.1
User name: tda
Password: [press Enter]
Port number: 22
From a computer with a serial port:
Connect the serial port to the serial port of the appliance using an RS232 serial cable.
On the computer, open a serial communication application such as HyperTerminal.
Use the following values if you are accessing the console for the first time:
Bits per second: 115200
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None
When the Preconfiguration Console screen opens, type the default password admin.
To access the Preconfiguration Console of the virtual appliance:
Start the VMware™ ESX Server Infrastructure client.
Access the Preconfiguration Console. The default password is admin. The logon screen as shown in The Logon screen appears.
