Administration > Connection Settings
Use the Connection Settings screen to configure the following connection types for the Mobile Security system:
3G/GPRS: enables mobile devices to communicate with the Mobile Security Management Module over the Internet. Mobile Device Agent devices can connect directly or through a proxy to the Mobile Security Management Module for component/policy updates and log reporting.
MSCM server connection: enables the Mobile Security Management Module to connect to the MSCM server to handle communications from SMS senders and Mobile Device Agents.
For 3G/GPRS connection, you need to assign a DNS name/IP address on the Mobile Security Management server with the Mobile Security Management Module. If the Mobile Security Management server is behind a NAT device, you must configure port mapping settings to map the private IP address to the public IP address. If the Mobile Security Management server is behind a firewall, make sure you have configured firewall settings to allow traffic from mobile devices.
Click Administration > Connection Settings from the Mobile Security management screen.
In the DNS name/IP address field, type the proxy or Mobile Security Management server you installed Mobile Security Communication Manager.
Specify the protocol and port number for 3G/GPRS connections.
By default, Mobile Security uses HTTP at port 80 for 3G/GPRS connections. If you want to use a different HTTP service port, type the port number in the field next to HTTP.
To use the connection type with enhanced security, select HTTPS and specify the service port number in the field provided (for example, 443).
HTTPS connection setting does not apply to Symbian devices. Symbian devices will only use HTTP connection method to communicate with Mobile Security Management Module.
Click Save to save the changes.
Click Administration > Connection Settings from the Mobile Security management screen.
Select "Configure the MSCM server settings" to enable the Mobile Security Management Module to communicate with the MSCM server.
Type the name or IP address of the MSCM server in the Server Name/IP Address field.
Type the service port of the MSCM server.
The default service port for MSCM server is 8189. You can use a different port during installation of MSCM server.
Click Save to save the changes.
If a firewall is installed between the MSCM server and the Mobile Security Management server, a host computer for an SMS sender, or a proxy server, you need to configure firewall policies to allow traffic to the specified MSCM server port.
