Trend Micro recommends that you always have the most up to date Vulnerability Assessment Pattern file and Vulnerability Assessment Engine when you set up and run assessment tasks. The Vulnerability Assessment Pattern file and the Vulnerability Assessment Engine serve essential functions when an assessment task is run.
The Vulnerability Assessment Pattern file determines what vulnerabilities can be identified and what kind of information to display about those vulnerabilities.
The Vulnerability Assessment Engine does the actual scanning of the machines that you set up in your assessment tasks.
You can download the Vulnerability Assessment Pattern file and Vulnerability Assessment Engine manually or have Vulnerability Assessment download them automatically according to a schedule. You configure the manual and scheduled downloads from the Administration menu on the Control Manager Web console.
Access the Manual Download screen. You can do this in the following ways:
Click Download Now in the Services Summary screen
Click Download Now in the Vulnerability Assessment screen
From the Control Manager console, Click Administration > Manual Downloads
The Manual Download screen opens displaying the download settings.
To edit the manual download for the pattern or engine, click Patterns/rules and Engines to download all components under the groups, or click Patterns/rules > Vulnerability Assessment Pattern, Pattern/rules > Vulnerability Information Database, and Engines > Vulnerability Assessment engine for individual component download. This opens the Group�s or Component�s Configuration screen, which is divided into three groups: Schedule and frequency, Download settings, and Automatic deployment.
Click Download Now, if the settings are acceptable. A message appears to inform you that you will download a component to your computer.
Click OK to start download. The download response screen opens. The progress bar shows the download status. View details from the Command Details screen or tracking information from the Command Tracking screen.
Click OK to return to the Manual Download screen.
