You can upgrade Control Manager 3.0/3.5 servers to Control Manager 5.0.
Trend Micro recommends that you install Control Manager 5.0 on a separate server, rather than upgrading Control Manager 3.0/3.5 to version 5.0. By keeping the original server intact, you can then de-commission the original server in a timely and effective manner.
When upgrading to Control Manager 5.0, spyware/grayware items are no longer counted as viruses. When upgrading to Control Manager 5.0, all virus logs from previous Control Manager versions (3.0 and previous) will separate the virus count from the spyware/grayware count in the virus logs. This process prolongs the upgrading process significantly. For example, processing 1 million virus logs requires approximately 25 minutes (with minimum system requirements).
Consider the following points when you plan to upgrade from Control Manager 3.0 to version 5.0 servers:
The Control Manager 5.0 installation detects an existing copy of Control Manager 3.0/3.5, and gives you the option to upgrade it to the latest Control Manager version
Before running the Control Manager 5.0 setup program, back up the Control Manager 3.0/3.5 information, files and registry hives
