Editing Notification Recipients, Virus Outbreak, Special Virus, Network Virus, and Potential Vulnerability Attack Detected Alert Settings

Configure Control Manager to send notifications whenever it detects a virus on your system. Special virus alert notifications provide an early warning of what could be a potential virus outbreak. When a virus outbreak occurs, the virus outbreak alert notifications provide a system-wide perspective of the virus outbreak.

• To configure virus outbreak alert settings

  1. Access Event Center.

  2. On the working area, click Settings adjacent to the Virusoutbreak alert event.

  3. On the Edit Virus Outbreak Alert Settings, provide the following:

  4. Detections: The number of viruses that triggers an outbreak alert

  5. Computer or Users: The number of computers/users infected

  6. Period: The period of consideration for detection rate parameter, in hour(s)

  4. Click Save.

   

• To configure special virus alert settings

  1. Access Event Center.

  2. On the working area, click Settings adjacent to the Special virus alert event.

  3. Type the keywords for the viruses that you want to monitor. You can list up to 10 viruses.

  4. Typing *.* specifies that you want to monitor all viruses.

  4. Under Alert Settings, specify the Period (in hours) using the drop down list box.

  5. Click Save.

   

• To configure network virus alert settings

  1. Access Event Center.

  2. On the working area, click Settings adjacent to the Network virus alert event.

  3. On the Edit Network Virus Alert Settings page, provide the following:

  4. Detection rate— the number of viruses that triggers an outbreak alert

  5. Time period— the period of consideration for detection rate parameter, in minute(s)

  6. Spread— the number of computers infected

  4. Click Save.

   

• To configure potential vulnerability attack alert settings

  1. Access Event Center.

  2. On the working area, click Settings adjacent to the Potential vulnerability attack detected event.

  3. On the Edit Potential Vulnerability Attack Settings page, provide the following:

  4. Detection rate— the number of viruses that trigger an outbreak alert

  5. Time period— the period of consideration for detection rate parameter, in hour(s)

  6. Spread— the number of Network VirusWall devices that reported the potential vulnerability attack

  4. Click Save.

   

• To configure the notification recipients and test notification delivery

  1. Access Event Center.

  2. On the working area, click the Recipients link of the event you want to configure.

  3. On the Edit Recipients under Recipient List, specify or remove the notification recipients:

  4. To add recipients from the list:

  1. Click the user or group from the Users and groups list. To select multiple recipients, use the CTRL key.

  2. Click to add the entry to the Recipients list.

  5. To remove a recipient from the list:

  1. Click the user or group from the Recipient list. To select multiple recipients, use the CTRL key.

  2. Click to remove the entry from the Recipients list.

  4. Select the check box of the corresponding notification method you prefer:

  Configure the notification method settings through the System Settings screen.

  5. Provide the notification message (for syslog, email, Windows event log, SNMP trap, pager, and MSN Messenger) or trigger application directory in the corresponding message fields.

  6. Use the notification variables to customize your messages.

  6. Click Test to determine if your system is able to deliver the notifications.

  7. Click Save.
