Damage Cleanup Services and Vulnerability Assessment offer two complementary services that contribute to the Enterprise Protection Strategy. Both are accessible from the Control Manager console.
Damage Cleanup Services: offers the ability to assess damages due to malware attacks and cleanup the damages done by the attacks, including cleaning virus remnants that persist after the virus has been removed.
Vulnerability Assessment: provides you with the ability to assess security risks to your network. You can use it to set up and run tasks that report on the security risks. You can use the reports to resolve the vulnerabilities and remove the security risks to your network.
If you have purchased Vulnerability Assessment, you can set a Vulnerability Assessment task to run along with a Damage Cleanup Task. To enable this feature, see Creating a Damage Cleanup Task.
After selecting Enable Vulnerability Assessment, you can choose the type of Vulnerability Assessment task will run based on the following actions:
Assessment by all vulnerability names
The task scans for all the known vulnerabilities in the current Vulnerability Assessment pattern file.
For a complete listing of all the known vulnerabilities refer to the Trend Micro Web site at http://www.trendmicro.com/advisory/.
Assess by the selected vulnerability name(s) only
The task scans for only those vulnerabilities that you identify in a list.
When you select this action you can also request enforcement on machines according to the vulnerability names.
After selecting Enable Vulnerability Assessment and saving the task, the Vulnerability Assessment task will run along with the selected Damage Cleanup task and the icon will appear next to the task in the Damage Cleanup Scheduled Tasks page. If after creating the task you clear the Enable Vulnerability Assessment check box or modify the Damage Cleanup task, the two tasks will run separately. For more information on Vulnerability Assessment, refer to the Vulnerability Assessment online help section.
