Using Communicator Heartbeat

Communicator heartbeat refers to the Control Manager agent message that notifies the Control Manager server with "I am alive" information. The Communicator provides this mechanism to determine whether the managed products remain active.

The heartbeat defines when a Communicator sends information to the Control Manager server. Use the Communicator Scheduler to define the heartbeat Working and Idle hours.

The Communicator polls the Control Manager server at regular intervals for the following purposes.

There are three heartbeat statuses:

Refer to Managed Products, Communicators, and Child Servers Connection Status Icons for details.

The Communicator sends heartbeat using the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) instead of using a connection-oriented protocol, where available.
