Configure Control Manager to send notifications whenever it detects a virus on your system. Special virus alert notifications provide an early warning of what could be a potential virus outbreak. When a virus outbreak occurs, the virus outbreak alert notifications provide a system-wide perspective of the virus outbreak.
To configure virus outbreak alert settings
Access Event Center.
On the working area, click Settings adjacent to the Virusoutbreak alert event.
On the Edit Virus Outbreak Alert Settings, provide the following:
Detection rate— the number of viruses that triggers an outbreak alert
Time period— the period of consideration for detection rate parameter
Spread— the number of computers infected
Click Save.
To configure special virus alert settings
On the working area, click Settings adjacent to the Special virus alert event.
On the Edit Special Virus Alert Settings, specify the Notification frequency (in hours) using the list.
Type the virus names that you want to monitor. Specify up to 10 viruses.
To configure network virus alert settings
On the working area, click Settings adjacent to the Network virus alert event.
On the Edit Network Virus Alert Settings page, provide the following:
Time period— the period of consideration for detection rate parameter, in minute(s)
To configure potential vulnerability attack alert settings
On the working area, click Settings adjacent to the Potential vulnerability attack detected event.
On the Edit Potential Vulnerability Attack Settings page, provide the following:
Time period— the period of consideration for detection rate parameter, in hour(s)
To configure the notification recipients and test notification delivery
On the working area, click the Recipients link of the event you want to configure.
On the Edit Recipients under Recipient List, specify or remove the notification recipients:
To add recipients from the list:
Click the user or group from the Users and groups list. To select multiple recipients, use the CTRL key.
Click to add the entry to the Recipients list.
To remove a recipient from the list:
Click the user or group from the Recipient list. To select multiple recipients, use the CTRL key.
Click to remove the entry from the Recipients list.
Select the check box of the corresponding notification method you prefer.
Configure the notification method settings via the System Settings screen.
Provide the notification message (for email, Windows event log, SNMP trap, pager, and MSN Messenger) or trigger application directory in the corresponding message fields.
Use the notification variables to customize your messages.
Click Test to experiment if your system is able to deliver the notifications.
